Liquid De-icers

Liquid de-icers are a fast acting alternative to traditional salt and grit for clearing and melting snow and ice, that are also environmentally friendly. They are suitable as a pre-wetting agent for salt and are ready for use and should not be diluted or mixed.

On highways and bridge decks liquid de-icer should be applied in advance of freezing temperatures using a calibrated bulk sprayer.

For pavements and cycleways apply with mobile spray (as used for fertiliser or weed killers). For smaller pedestrian areas a backpack sprayer may be suitable. It may also be applied through fixed installation spray systems.

They are designed as a proactive anti-icer to prevent bonding of ice or snow and should be applied at 15ml/m2 before frost or snowfall. Higher application rates or re-application may be required on the rare occasions when temperature fall below -10 degrees C or in conditions of freezing rain.

Ensure to plough or sweep to remove accumulations of snow and reapply.
